YMCA demands immediate release of Ronnie and other citizens arrested.
Ronnie Lyan , General Secretary of Hakha YMCA, Myanmar is arrested on 10th February 2021 at 11:35 PM by the military. According to the news received from YMCA Myanmar the reason for his arrest is because he was elected as Union Election Commission Chairman for the 2020 General Election. And the result was a landslide victory for the NLD party led by Aung San Suu Kyi.
Most of the States and Regions Union Election Commission are arrested on 10th February at night. Also, there is a curfew from 8pm to 4am. Many young people raising voices for Justice and Democracy in the country. A great violation of human rights in Myanmar are witnessed.
Ronnie is known for his great service in Haka YMCA. He served as Union Election Commission Member in 2015 General Election. He has a son and a daughter.
Over ten million members of YMCA around the world stand in solidarity and action for Ronnie Lyan and his family’s safety and demand immediate release of Ronnie and other citizens arrested since the military coup seized control.
